Boğaziçi Üniversitesi Felsefe Bölümünde lisans eğitimini tamamladıktan sonra, Sabancı Üniversitesi Siyaset Bilimi Bölümünde burslu olarak yüksek lisans, Bilkent Üniversitesi Siyaset Bilimi Bölümünde ise doktora derecesi alan Deniz Yetkin Aker, 2011 yılında Almanya’daki Humboldt Üniversitesi ve Kanada’daki Montreal Üniversitesinde göç konularında uzman araştırmacı olarak çalışmalar yürütmüştür.

In 2015, Yetkin Aker began her academic career as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University and was awarded the title of Associate Professor in 2021. She has held administrative roles such as Department Chair and Deputy Director of the International Office (Erasmus, etc.), and since 2023, she has continued her academic career as an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at Istanbul Beykent University.

Yetkin Aker has engaged in a variety of academic activities, including books, book chapters, articles, presentations, project work, and invited talks. She has also organized symposiums and conferences. She speaks English fluently and has intermediate proficiency in German and French. She has conducted academic research using statistical software such as SPSS and qualitative analysis programs like NVivo, and has also provided training in these areas.

Yetkin Aker has served as a consultant for the International Labour Organization and has conducted adult education programs in various cities. She is also the founder of Nil Akademi, an international certified education and consultancy company.
