Dr. Hamit Can
Dr. Hamit Can holds bachelor’s degrees in Nutrition and Dietetics, Computer Engineering, and Business Administration; in addition, he completed an associate degree in Culinary Arts. Following his master’s studies, he earned his doctoral degree, pursuing an academic career with a multidisciplinary approach.
In addition to the titles of International Sports Nutrition Specialist and International Fitness Nutrition Specialist, he also holds a Fitness Trainer certificate approved by the Turkish Bodybuilding, Fitness, and Arm Wrestling Federation.
His research areas include sports nutrition, clinical nutrition, functional nutrition, phytotherapy, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, energy economics, and economic growth. In 2020, one of his studies was honored with the Aydınlar Award in the category of “Outstanding Paper” by Emerald Publishing. Furthermore, in 2014 and 2015, he was invited by Times Higher Education (THE) to contribute, based on scientific achievement criteria, to the ranking process of the world’s top 10 universities.
Dr. Hamit Can is an active researcher in the international academic community and serves as a reviewer for esteemed journals indexed in Web of Science and Scopus. These include Environmental Science and Pollution Research, International Journal of Energy Sector Management, International Journal of Social Economics, World Journal of Science, Technology and Sustainable Development, and Sustainability Accounting, Management and Policy Journal. In addition, he serves on the editorial boards of journals such as the Three Seas Economic Journal, the International Journal of Socially Responsible and Sustainable Healthcare (IJSRSH), the International Journal of Public and Private Perspectives on Healthcare, Culture, and the Environment (IJPPPHCE), and CSR and Socially Responsible Investing Strategies in Transitioning and Emerging Economies.
Dr. Hamit Can has received over 200 citations in the scientific literature, with an h-index of 5, and has authored more than 40 publications in prestigious indexed journals, conferences, and other outlets. His notable books include Optimizing Energy Efficiency During a Global Energy Crisis (2024), Achieving Business Excellence Through Triple Transformation (2024), and Evaluating the Effectiveness of Functional Ingredients in Sports Nutrition.
He also holds internationally accredited certificates from leading global institutions and universities, including The British Dietetic Association (BDA), The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and prestigious universities such as Harvard, Cambridge, Oxford, Stanford, Yale, Johns Hopkins, University of Copenhagen, Université de Lausanne, University of Sydney, Bocconi University, McMaster, University of Toronto, University of Michigan, and University of Florida.
Currently serving in prestigious organizations, Dr. Hamit Can also plays an active role in projects carried out in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and TÜBİTAK.
